11. Hijacking a Vending Machine
Brand Identity & Website Desig for a vending machine hijack.
We “hijacked” the Pratt Identity system by using it to create a very similar logo promoting a fake brand: Pratt Vending Machines. Then we “hijacked” the vending machine by placing a banner, promoting the false brand with the real brand identity and tricked people into scanning our QR code with the hope of a free snack.
Issue:
In the U.S., health is an issue.
90% of Americans fuel themselves with snacks 1-3 times daily - and for the Pratt student body, even more than average.
Real time Insights:
“Are they trolling us?”
“I think we got scammed”
“Like, you think I don’t know that?”
Analytical Insights:
5 people followed through and scrolle the whole page, and then returned to the homepage as intended.
The website had an average engagement of 1m 13s - enough for naviagtion, not enough time for information processing.
Interest went down drastically after the 3rd day of the activation (which we later found out, was because someone took it down for being a disruption, so our hijack worked! yay!).
A collaboration with Jose Inclán.
